Behind the Front is a three-minute and two-second short animation with an abstract style containing expressive elements and a strong sense of consciousness, narrating the short story of a 17-year-old high school girl who experiences the first lockdown in the city of Wuhan alone at home due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and whose mother, a hospital doctor, contracts it and passes away.
Inevitably, the protagonist goes through a challenging process. Still, she eventually emerges from the trauma and transforms from a restrained and lost persona into a strong woman who becomes a doctor like her mother.
The main theme of this animation is not only to commemorate the people and healthcare workers who passed away during the epidemic but also to express gratitude to the strong relatives and friends behind them.
