The Hertica Home is an interactive experience project done in Unreal Engine based on one of the home schools in Kosovo in the 1990s. The house was donated by the Hertica family to one of the high schools in Pristina for teaching Albanian students who were not allowed to go to school due to the antagonism between the Albanians and the Serbs.
The idea of this project is to rebuild rooms and spaces using sound and audio, which my group members and I received from Linda, who was studying at this school years ago. In the interview, Linda introduced what the house and rooms were like before they had been destroyed due to the war in 1999, their daily lives, and things that happened during that period.
Our purpose of this interactive experience is to tell the history in an interesting way as throughout the research we found there is somehow a loss of connection to the past between the younger generations in Kosovo. Therefore, we hope that this project can show our main target audience, which is the people who are living in Kosovo, especially the younger ones, what the old generation suffered to win harmony and not take things for granted.
In this project, I was mainly focused on concept art, prop design, modelling, texturing, and sorting out different sound clips.
This project has been selected for the "Changing the Story" International Film Festival 2020.
